The proposed system is a dynamic moving wall system that will allow for the juxtaposition of environments and enable spaces to be in flux. Spaces no longer exist as stable, immutable presences. They exist as fluid entities, expanding and contracting depending on demand and usage. Users are in control of the space they dwell in: walls are summoned when there is a need for privacy, and conversely, sent away when they are not needed. Ownership is time-based.
Spaces vary in their experiential qualities, and contain different conditions, environments, activities and codes of engagement.
Environments are juxtaposed against each other.
Transition between contrasting environments become seamless.
At times, the change is subtle, while at others, the contrast is extreme.
Unexpected experiences arise.
The reconfiguration takes place seamlessly, smoothly and quietly to provide novel and unexpected experiences.
Set in a future date, it has come out of necessity due to population explosion, land shortage, unaffordable property market….
These factors combined has led to the creation of a new type of cityscape.
Accompanying this system is the need for a new framework.
Property rights and concept of boundaries as we know now is challenged.
New rules of behavior and interaction need to be set in place.
The boundary between inside and out, between here and there, becomes blurred.
The city becomes a collage of environments.
The space becomes a journey.
