Plans

Initial concept plan and elevation

Imagination and inspiration can be stimulated when a dramatic change of atmosphere is given.  A strong contrast between calm, relaxing, closed, private and orderly designed interior of the risen buildings and exciting, opened and consistent randomness of the scattered fragments of abstract ‘hints’ can provoke imagination.

Final plan

Circlular inclosed building provides place where vistors can have their privacy and relax in calmness. While continuous grid columns outside stimulates vistors to recall from past memories and form their imaginative boundaries.

Each grid has their own directions. For example, + shaped column gives horizontal and vertical possibility of making the imaginative boundary. ㄴshaped column will give only northern and western direction whereas column with diagonal points will provide diagonal guide. Each columns have their own specific guide of directions, but it is vistors’ will to draw their own imaginative shelter.

It will be always different depending visitors’ emotion, memories and position. As visitors move through this space, the imaginative boundary will constantly be changing as a human always perceives and at the same time forgets. As vistors walk upward to the circular building thorugh the exposed staircase , they experiences whole new scenary due to change of altitude and new perception will form. When vistors reach the inclosed room where only subtle light is allowed to penetrate, they can restore and organize their thoughts and feelings for the next imaginative excercise.
