Studies of The Body
To understand the way we move and use spaces I have created a chart, where you can see how you can manipulate ones body depending on the height, density, angle of the space or object. I have also studied the limits of the human body, how you can fall, jump, and collide with the surface, in order to survive.
Inspired by the variety of movements I could get by manipulating space, I wanted to expand the library of movements and poses. I have studied human body in depth, categorising elements of the body, and how they can move. In addition I have created a chart through asking my friend to perform different actions with certain parts of the body.
The above diagram explores the ways we move in space with the use of transitional elements. I have discovered that the easier the transition would be – the more space the element would take, and vice versa, when accelerating the body more. In addition it helped me to understand that usually transitional elements do not have any programmatic purpose, which I wanted to challenge.
